HOW TO MAKE 24 HOURS FEEL LIKE ENOUGH
After hearing from so many friends and clients that they don’t have enough time each day to achieve everything they want, I decided to share my simple 4-step process to make the most of 24 hours.
"I Wish There Were More Hours in a Day."
I can't tell you how many times a week I hear someone say "I wish there were more hours in a day." I used to think that same thought myself, until I got better at creating my days in a way that felt like enough to me. What I had to do to get there involved a multi-step process that looked like this:
Revisit my values
Understand what I need in a day and a week to feel fulfilled, balanced, content, joyful and not exhausted, drained, like something was missing.
Define priorities based on the above, my values and my desire to feel fulfilled and not spent daily.
Make a categorized list of items that I need and want to do but at different prioritization levels (gosh did this help me greatly!):
Need to be done NOW
Ongoing or not super important but needs to get done
Quick one-off's
Want to do but not essential
How to make your goals easier
I bring this up because after conversing about health goals with hundreds of women, the majority will use 'time' as a reason that their goals feel so hard to accomplish. And as a Coach, I find it my duty to help these women figure out a way to make their goals easier.
What I found in these cases is that I needed to address a few areas.
One. Their values.
Two. Their priorities.
Three. Where their time was being spent in their day.
It is going to be REALLY hard to do more in relation to our health goal, if we can't do less somewhere else. In fact, I'd argue impossible.
I Promise That You Can Feel Like 24 Hours is Enough Time
If you view your day as a glass of water that is filled to the brim, tell me how you can put more water in without it spilling over onto the table?
You can't. That's impossible.
That's how our time each day works. We have to choose what is important enough to win our attention in a day’s time. And to do that you have to get clear on what you value and what you want most. If you want your health to change, your weight to change and how you feel to change, you have to change your focus in your day-to-day living.
Give it a try!
I promise that you can feel like 24 hours is enough time each day, all while getting at least 8 hours of sleep.
Give a try to the multi-step process I use above, and shoot me a message here when you do as I'd love to hear how it works for you!
